FAQs on Equivalence of NIELIT Courses

Ques a) NIELIT 'A' level (IT) course is equal to Government recognized PGDCA (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application)? 

                                                   OR

Is B.Sc.(IT/CS)/BCA/MCA/MBA (IT)/B.Tech (CS/IT)/MCA degree courses are higher or equivalent of NIELIT 'A' level (IT) of NIELIT?

                                                   OR

Is Engineering graduate (4 year course duration) is equivalent to 'A' level course of NIELIT?

                                                   OR

M.Tech.(CS/IT/EC) is equivalent to NIELIT A/B/C level course of NIELIT? etc 

Ans a) NIELIT is not an authority to grant equivalence of its courses with other courses.

'A' Level (IT) was earlier recognized by MHRD, Department of Education vide notification no. (43) dated 01.03.95  as equivalent to Advanced Diploma for purpose of employment to posts and services in Government of India (http://www.nielit.gov.in/sites/default/files/anot01.jpg)  

Later on, after the issuance of OM No. F.No 11-15/2011-AR (TS.II) dated 06.12.2012 from MHRD, Government of India (http://www.nielit.gov.in/sites/default/files/headquarter/memo_jobs.pdf)

Ques b) Whether,  NIELIT  ‘B’  level  (IT) Course is equivalent to Government recognized Master of Computer Application (MCA) degree?

Ans b) 'B'  level (IT) was earlier recognized by MHRD, Department of Secondary & Higher Education vide notification no (54) dated 26.9.2000 as for purpose of employment under Central Government where MCA is desired qualification (http://www.nielit.gov.in/sites/default/files/bnot01.jpg).

Later on after the issuance of OM No F.No 11-15/2011-AR (TS.II) dated 06.12.2012 from MHRD,  Government of India  (http://www.nielit.gov.in/sites/default/files/headquarter/memo_jobs.pdf )

NIELIT has aligned its B level (IT) with NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework) at level -7 in IT/ITes sector (https://www.nqr.gov.in/qualification-title?field_qualification_title__value=b%20level&field_anticipated_volume_of_trai_value=all&sector=25&level=all&job_des=all&nid=3101).

Ques c) After completion of NIELIT ‘A’ Level (IT) course, lateral entry to second year of MCA degree is allowed?

                                                   OR

Whether I am eligible for Ph.D. in computer Science after getting NIELIT ‘C’ level (IT) Course?

Ans c) Entry level / Lateral Entry to any course is granted by respective University / Organization / Institute and NIELIT has no role in this.
