NIELIT Kurukshetra and Chandigarh jointly organized first one day State level Workshop on Digital Payments in the State of Haryana at National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (NBAGR), Karnal. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Kavita Jain, Hon’ble Minister for Urban development and Local Bodies and dais was shared by Dr. M M Sharma, Executive Director, NIELIT, Sh. Mahendra Mittal, State President - CAIT, Sh. Purushotam Garg, District President – CAIT, Sh. Sushil Gupta, President, District Petroleum Association.
Hon’ble Minister during her speech highlighted the importance of digital payments and incentive schemes launched by Government of India to promote its implementation particularly in business trading segment. Majority of departments of Haryana Government has already been providing online services and Government has already circulated 3000 POS machines to departments for accepting and disbursing payments on behalf of the government.
Hon’ble Minister in her address highlighted that National Institute of Electronics and IT is the capacity building arm of Ministry of Electronics & IT and has been playing key role in skill development of youths and professionals through its established 35 Centres across country.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. M M Sharma, Executive Director, NIELIT Chandigarh sketched out details of training program for traders on Digital Payment initiatives. During his address, at the workshop, Dr. Sharma motivated the traders to embrace the technology driven environment that existed around them. Through Digital Transactions traders would be able to create vibrancy and momentum in market that would ultimately empower them with convenient and swift way of doing business. He said, “NIELIT has taken up the onus to create awareness among the trader community for spreading the Digital India Mission through such workshops and DigiDhan Camps". Dr. Sharma further said that the three DigiDhan camps would be organized at Yamunanagar and Jagadhari in May 2017 for same cause. He expressed his gratitude to all the traders who were present and esteemed dignitaries that were a part of this workshop and hoped that traders would further encourage their co-businesspersons in adopting digital payment modes.
Workshop was attended by around 100 traders operating in Karnal District. Presentation sessions on various digital payment modes were delivered by representatives of NIELIT, Punjab National Bank and UIDAI. A live demonstration on BHIM portal was given to participants. Also, during the sessions, traders raised queries to clear their doubts and reservations in their minds.
Workshop was very successful in delivering the message to the traders to accept the digital payments mode.
