Technology Clinic on Handloom and Handicraft Held at NIELIT Dimapur
Dimapur, November 4–5, 2024:The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) Dimapur successfully conducted two consecutive technology clinics under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative, focusing on empowering local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through digital innovation.
Held on November 4 and 5, 2024, the workshops were organized under the themes “Handloom Product Diversification with Digital Technology” and “Handicraft Product Diversification with Digital Technology.” The programmes aimed to strengthen traditional industries by integrating modern digital tools, fostering innovation, and promoting sustainable growth among artisans and entrepreneurs.
During the Technology Clinic on Handloom, participants engaged in three hands-on sessions:
▪️ Digital and Jacquard Designing in Handloom
▪️ Software-Based Design/Motif Development
▪️ Revival of Traditional Weaving Techniques with Modern Tools
The Technology Clinic on Handicraft emphasized adopting digital design applications, improving product quality, and exploring new market opportunities through technology-driven solutions.
Both events witnessed enthusiastic participation from local artisans, designers, and MSME stakeholders. Experts from NIELIT Dimapur shared insights on leveraging ICT tools to enhance productivity and creativity while preserving traditional craftsmanship.
The initiative reaffirmed NIELIT Dimapur’s commitment to supporting the digital transformation of local industries and promoting the growth of the MSME ecosystem in Nagaland.
