NIELIT Dimapur Conducts Multi-Institutional Outreach on YUVAi – The Global Youth Challenge

The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Dimapur successfully organized a series of outreach and awareness programmes under YUVAi – The Global Youth Challenge, an initiative that empowers young minds to harness Artificial Intelligence (AI) for social good. The programmes aimed to guide students in identifying local challenges and transforming them into AI-driven solutions aligned with national development goals.

1. In-House Awareness Session at NIELIT Dimapur
The outreach series began on 22nd October 2025 with an in-house awareness session at NIELIT Dimapur, attended by 52 students. Ms. Dimpy Dey, Faculty (AI), served as the resource person and introduced participants to YUVAi’s vision, eligibility, and registration process. Students were guided on framing AI-ready problem statements under the core themes of Community Empowerment, Core-Sector Transformation, Smart Ecosystems, and Open Innovation. A live registration walkthrough and mentorship discussion encouraged students to form teams and prepare proposals. The event concluded with positive feedback, highlighting the enthusiasm of students to participate in the national-level challenge.

2. Outreach at Dimapur Government College
The next session was held on 29th October 2025 at Dimapur Government College, engaging 40 students. Ms. Sanjana Lama served as the key resource person, briefing participants on YUVAi’s objectives, eligibility, and submission process. The session also emphasized mentorship support, evaluation milestones, and national showcase opportunities. Pamphlets containing detailed registration guidelines were distributed to both students and faculty members. The interactive Q&A session encouraged idea generation, with several student groups beginning to outline project concepts.

3. Outreach at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Nagaland
On 31st October 2025, NIELIT Dimapur organized an outreach programme at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Nagaland, attended by 55 students. Mr. Daniel Meren, Scientist ‘E’, NIELIT Dimapur, led the session, presenting YUVAi’s vision, team formation process, and AI innovation roadmap. The event was graced by Dr. Themrichon Tuithung, who encouraged students to take part in AI-led initiatives contributing to social and technological transformation. Participants explored practical ways to convert regional problems into AI use cases mapped to YUVAi’s key themes. The session concluded with a lively interaction and initial idea shortlisting by the students.

4. Outreach at Tetso College, Chümoukedima
Another session took place on 31st October 2025 at Tetso College, Chümoukedima, with 82 students in attendance. Mr. Daniel Meren again served as the principal resource person, highlighting YUVAi’s broader vision, mentorship avenues, and the upcoming AI Impact Summit 2026. The event was honored by the presence of Shri Talinungsang, Dean, Department of Computer Science, as the Chief Dignitary. The Dean commended NIELIT’s ongoing initiatives in promoting AI literacy and digital empowerment. The event concluded with enthusiastic participation and commitment from students to register and develop innovative AI-based ideas.

Through these coordinated outreach programmes, NIELIT Dimapur continues to inspire youth in Nagaland to explore AI-driven innovations and contribute meaningfully to India’s digital transformation. The initiative has successfully strengthened awareness and participation in the YUVAi Global Youth Challenge, fostering a new generation of innovators committed to using AI for social good. More such events are planned in other colleges in the coming weeks.
