Five-Day Master Trainer Training Programme on “Operations Security, Threat Landscape and Risk Management” Successfully Conducted at NIELIT Kolkata under ISEA Phase–III during 16th –20th March 2026
The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT Kolkata) successfully organized a Five-Day Master Trainer Training Programme on the module “Operations Security, Threat Landscape and Risk Management” from 16th – 20th March 2026 under Phase–III of the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. The programme marked another important step toward enhancing cybersecurity competencies and building a robust pool of skilled trainers across the country.
The inaugural session was held in the presence of Mr. Goutam Saha, Director-in-Charge (DIC), NIELIT Kolkata; Shri Tapas Trivedy, Scientist–E, NIELIT Kolkata; Dr. Kalyan Baital, Scientist–D, NIELIT Kolkata & Programme Coordinator; Mrs. Rashmi Mandal Vijayvergiya; Mrs. Debapriya Bhattacharyya, PTO; Mrs. Krishnakali Kar Khan, STO; along with other senior officials and faculty members of NIELIT Kolkata.
Dr. Kalyan Baital outlined the objectives and relevance of the programme, emphasizing the growing need for structured training in operations security and risk management under the ISEA Phase–III framework. He encouraged participants to actively engage in discussions and hands-on sessions for maximum benefit.
Mr. Goutam Saha welcomed all participants and highlighted the increasing complexity of cyber threats in the modern digital ecosystem. He expressed optimism that the programme would equip attendees with practical knowledge and skills through the expertise of experienced trainers and faculty members.
Shri Tapas Trivedy acknowledged the continued support of MeitY and the Programme Management Unit (PMU) at Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC Hyderabad) for enabling such impactful capacity-building initiatives. He urged participants to make the most of the learning opportunity and apply the concepts effectively in their professional domains.
Mrs. Rashmi Mandal Vijayvergiya spoke about the various cybersecurity initiatives undertaken by NIELIT Kolkata and appreciated the coordinated efforts of the organizing team in successfully arranging the programme.
The technical sessions throughout the five days were delivered by Master Trainers (Dr. Kalyan Baital and Mrs. Rashmi Mandal Vijayvergiya) and faculty members of NIELIT Kolkata. The programme was further enriched by expert lectures from Prof. Mridul Sankar Barik of Jadavpur University and Mr. Subhendu Chakraborty, Faculty of Police Institute of Forensic Science, Swami Vivekananda State Police Academy, West Bengal whose sessions provided valuable academic insights and practical perspectives on emerging threat landscapes and risk mitigation strategies.
A total of 102 participants attended the training programme. The sessions were interactive and engaging, encouraging active participation, knowledge exchange, and practical learning among attendees.
An assessment was conducted at the end of the programme, where participants demonstrated commendable understanding of the subject matter. Participation Certificates were distributed to all attendees during the valedictory session.
The valedictory session was conducted in the presence of Dr. Kalyan Baital, Scientist–D & Programme Coordinator; Mrs. Rashmi Mandal Vijayvergiya; and Mrs. Krishnakali Kar Khan, STO, NIELIT Kolkata, along with other officials.
Dr. Kalyan Baital congratulated the participants for their sincere involvement and successful completion of the programme. He expressed confidence that the knowledge gained would be instrumental in strengthening their professional capabilities and encouraged them to further disseminate cybersecurity awareness.
Mrs. Rashmi Mandal Vijayvergiya advised participants to adopt responsible and ethical practices while handling digital technologies and motivated them to contribute actively toward spreading cybersecurity awareness within their organizations and communities.
Mrs. Krishnakali Kar Khan also appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants and extended her best wishes for their future endeavors.
The successful execution of this programme reflects NIELIT Kolkata’s ongoing commitment to nurturing skilled cybersecurity professionals and Master Trainers, thereby contributing significantly to the development of a secure and resilient cyber ecosystem in the country.
