Inauguration Programme of NIELIT Kolkata Study Centre at Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT) on 6th Feb 2026
National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Kolkata, in collaboration with Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT), successfully organized the Inauguration Programme of the NIELIT Kolkata Study Centre at Haldia Institute of Technology on 6th February 2026 at 11:00 AM, marking an important milestone in academic collaboration and digital skill development in the region.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by the Programme Coordinator from Haldia Institute of Technology, Mrs. Tamosa Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology, Haldia Institute of Technology, who extended greetings to the Honourable Director General, NIELIT, followed by the dignitaries from NIELIT Kolkata, the dignitaries from Haldia Institute of Technology, faculty members, students, and other esteemed guests. In her opening remarks, she highlighted the significance of the inauguration and the role of the Study Centre in strengthening skill-oriented technical education at HIT.
Subsequently, the Programme Coordinator from NIELIT Kolkata, Mrs. Rashmi Mandal Vijayvergiya, Scientist-D, NIELIT Kolkata, outlined the context and significance of the initiative. She emphasized that NIELIT, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, is actively engaged in digital skill development, capacity building, and human resource development. The establishment of the NIELIT Kolkata Study Centre at HIT was highlighted as a strategic initiative to expand access to quality technical education and to create industry-ready skilled manpower in the region.
The dignitaries from Haldia Institute of Technology present on the dais were formally introduced. These included Prof. Dr. Tarun Kanti Jana, Principal, Haldia Institute of Technology, whose leadership continues to guide the institution towards academic excellence, and Dr. Subhankar Joardar, Dean, Haldia Institute of Technology, who plays a key role in academic planning and implementation.
The dignitaries from NIELIT Kolkata were also formally introduced. These included Dr. Madan Mohan Tripathi, Director General, NIELIT, who provided visionary leadership in advancing NIELIT’s national mandate and played a pioneering role in the establishment of the NIELIT Kolkata Study Centre at Haldia Institute of Technology; Shri Goutam Saha, Director-In-Charge, NIELIT Kolkata, whose leadership has been instrumental in strengthening academic collaborations and digital skill initiatives; Shri Tapas Trivedy, Scientist-E, NIELIT Kolkata, who has significantly contributed to academic planning and implementation of training programmes; and Dr. Kalyan Baital, Scientist-D, NIELIT Kolkata, who has played an important role in programme coordination and academic development.
To formally mark the occasion, the respected dignitaries jointly lit the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the commencement of the NIELIT Kolkata Study Centre at Haldia Institute of Technology.
The Welcome Address was delivered by Shri Goutam Saha, Director-In-Charge, NIELIT Kolkata, who highlighted NIELIT’s national mandate, its role in digital empowerment, and the importance of institutional collaboration in enhancing employability and technical competence.
This was followed by an address by Shri Tapas Trivedy, Scientist-E, NIELIT Kolkata, who shared the academic objectives and vision of the Study Centre, outlining training programmes, certification initiatives, and future academic opportunities for students.
The Presidential Address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Tarun Kanti Jana, Principal, Haldia Institute of Technology, who emphasized HIT’s commitment to quality education, skill development, and the strategic importance of hosting the NIELIT Kolkata Study Centre.
The Academic Perspective Address was presented by Dr. Subhankar Joardar, Dean, Haldia Institute of Technology, who highlighted the academic roadmap and the role of the Study Centre in curriculum enrichment, student skill development, and industry alignment.
The Chief Guest Address was delivered by Dr. Madan Mohan Tripathi, Director General, NIELIT, who joined the programme in online mode. During his address, he formally inaugurated the NIELIT Kolkata Study Centre at Haldia Institute of Technology and encouraged students to actively leverage NIELIT programmes for national and global career opportunities.
The programme also witnessed the Signing of the Agreement between the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Kolkata, and Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT), thereby formalizing the academic and operational framework of the Study Centre.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr. Kalyan Baital, Scientist-D, NIELIT Kolkata, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Honourable Director General, NIELIT, dignitaries from HIT and NIELIT Kolkata, faculty members, students, organizers, and all participants for their valuable support.
With this, the formal and technical proceedings of the inauguration programme, including the online session, were officially concluded.
