NIELIT organizes State Level Workshop on Digital Payment Initiatives for Traders in Shimla
National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) today organized a state level workshop on Capacity Building of Small and Medium Businesses/Traders on Digital Payment Initiatives supported by CAIT (Confederation of All India Traders) at S.D. Senior Secretary School, Ganj Bazaar, Shimla. The main emphasis of the workshop was to spread awareness among the Small and Medium Business/Trader factions pertaining to the adoption of Digital Payment modes like UPI (Unified Payment Interface), USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data), BBPS (Bharat Bill Payment System), AEPS (Adhaar Enabled Payment System).
The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Inderjeet Singh, President Vyapar Mandal, Shimla in the august presence of Dr. M. M. Sharma, Executive Director, NIELIT Chandigarh. The other dignitaries present in the workshop were Shri Puri, Vice President, Vyapar Mandal, Shimla, Shri Sanjeev Thakur, General Secretary, Vyapar Mandal, Shimla and Shri Rajiv Aggarwal, Director In-charge, NIELIT Shimla
Shri Inderjeet Singh, President, Vyapar Mandal, Shimla laid emphasis on use of digital payment modes and appealed traders and business community to use it in daily financial transactions. He also said that soon society would not depend upon the conventional payment mode of exchanging currency notes. He appreciated the role played by NIELIT in creating awareness by organizing such workshop.
Speaking on the occasion Dr.M. M Sharma Executive Director NIELIT Chandigarh sketched out details of training program for traders on Digital Payment initiatives. During his address, at the workshop, Dr. Sharma motivated the traders to embrace the technology driven environment that existed around them.
Shri Rajiv Aggarwal, Director In-Charge, NIELIT Shimla welcomed the venerate dignitaries who were present to encourage businesses / traders to use digital payment mode. He outlined NIELIT’s Objective and Mission of the organizing such state level workshops as “To create the awareness among trader Community on Digital Payment Initiatives in a convenient manner”.
Shri Puri, , President, Vyapar Mandal, Shimla while addressing the gathering said, “The motive of such Workshop is to digitally educate shopkeepers, traders and merchants on the benefits of switching to Digital transactions that would enable them to venture into this new era of Digital World. He appealed traders to be a part of accomplishment of “Digital India Dream”.
Shri Sanjiv Thakur, General Secretary, Vyapar Mandal, Shimla thanked the traders for their participation in the workshop and encouraged them for cashless payments. Representatives of Unique Identification Authority of India and Bank gave live demonstration of use of Aadhaar Enabled Payment System and BHIM app to over 100 traders who participated in the workshop.
