e-Governance
E-Governance is in essence, the application of Information and Communications Technology to government functioning in order to create “Simple, Measurable, Accurate, Relevant and Transparent” (SMART) governance. This new paradigm would focus on the use of information technology to bring public services to the doorsteps of our citizens and businesses on the basis of revolutionary changes in our institutional structures, procedures and practices that would transform the relationships between our three levels of government, our businesses and our citizens. NIELIT has been mandated that it should strive and make forays in the vast realm of capacity building in the e-Governance sector for Government employees. Keeping in view this objective Managing Director, NIELIT has created an e-Governance Project Group and also directed all the Centre Directors and Director-in-Charge to appoint Nodal Officers who will explore various avenues in the e-Governance sector in their respective state. e-Governance Activities

Knowledge Exchange and Capacity Building Training Program for Officers of Govt. of NCT of Delhi Upon successful completion of the training program at Shimla for officers of Govt. of NCT of Delhi, NIELIT was again mandated to conduct two more Knowledge Exchange and Capacity Building Training Program for its officers at Udaipur and Goa on “e-Governance Project Life Cycle” and “Government Process Reengineering” respectively.

Project Management Group for Capacity Building of employees of Govt. of Nagaland – By the order of Principal Secretary cum Commissioner, Dept. of IT and Communication, a Project Management Group was constituted to conduct various capacity building training programs for the employees of Govt. of Nagaland and ST youths off the state. Sh. Partha P. Adhikari, DD(S) was invited as a member from NIELIT Centre, New Delhi to share his experiences and formulate the course structure for the proposed training programs. The PMG held its first meeting on 13th December 2013 under the chairmanship of Sh. K.T. Sukhalu, Principal Secretary cum Commissioner, Dept. of IT and Communications. NIELIT was asked to organise the first One Day Sensitization Workshop on e-Governance. One Day Sensitisation Workshop on e-Governance was organized on 5th February 2014. The workshop was inaugurated by the Ms. B.Z. Jamir, IAS, Chief Secretary to Govt. of Nagaland and attended by 71 participants drawn from various departments of Govt. of Nagaland.
NIELIT Centre New Delhi’s presence in e-Haryana–NIELIT Centre, New Delhi , had put up a stall at the e-Haryana event organized jointly by Department of IT, Govt. of Haryana and Elets India, publisher of e-Gov magazine, to publicise about the various initiatives of NIELIT.
